View Full Version : Indonesian Tree Boa
okay, I am seriously interested in getting this little guy from the store I work at. But, I don't seem to know very much about them, so I thought to come here. I haven't yet seen any indo's with the same or even remotely close to the same pattern or colour. But this one is beautiful. Got a link? or pics? or any info would be great. Oh yeah, and it doesn't eat mice, i think I will try house gecko or tree frogs!
Thanx in advance, Crazy4's crazy woman!

There's a store in Calgary that has Indonesian Tree Boas?!?!?!?!?! Where?????
I have the only one I've ever even seen. we always seem to get the "cool shiet" lol We have a wide variety (like more than 40) tarantulas, african cichlids, lizards and snakes! you should stop by and check out our store! We are located on the corner of Elbow Dr and Heritage Dr...SW...The pet store is called Paws Pet Food, but Tanks-A-Lot (my store) is in the basement of Paws. Owned by the same man. My co-worker has so much knowledge of all things reptillian, arachnid and aquatic!
Take Care

Ah, ok. I know of Tanks a Lot. Gary is the owner, right? I've been meaning to pop in there, because I know he gets really rare and exotic stuff.
Gary is NOT the owner....but I do consider him the manager of the Reptile Department. Mark is the Owner! Stop in, we have some cool sheit!

Candoia can be a real nightmare. Often times they hold out for lizards and the newborns are too small to use for bait ;). And many are WC imports that have more parasites than organs ;) If you can get them established, they are definately cool little boas. I am very quickly falling in love with my paulsoni. But I lucked out in that the previous owner already got them on f/t rat pinks :D Jeff Conway's page has alot of great information on Candoia.
Thanx BW ~ I haven't gotten it yet...But hopefully next weekend or the one after...a lot of thought and research has gone into it. I have ready every word of the Jeff Conway Candoia Pages...
I work at the store that has it for sale, I look at it everyday...With twinkles in my eyes! I feel that unless I have it at home, where I can keep track of everything, and give more one on one, I can't offer the time to change it over from anoles and house geckos to mice. I hear they only feed every 2 - 3 weeks....so this poses a small problem for me, since you have to wait so long between feedings to try with the mice. I have two baby ball pythons, that eat every 4 days....never refused a meal...they are eating jumbo adult mice already. Anyway, thanx again for offering some info! Take care, and have a great day!

Powerfeeding often leads to short lives.

BWSmith is right...
Ths BW & BISTRO ~~
I read somewhere that after balls are several monthes old it is a good idea to chaneg thier eating patterns to every 4 days from every 7-10, but only for 5-7 feedings, something about lessen the chances of picky eating, and refusal to eat. Also, that it will give a big growth spurt for that month and then back to normal 6-10 day feeding intervals....if I ever find where I read that, I will let you know....hmm, maybe I heard it from someone...Can't remeber.
But the snakes seem to be fine, and I do realize that shorter digestion times between meals is not good, but I just wanted to try it??
Thank-you for your concern, I appreciate your advice and helpful criticism, instead of disrespectful bashing and tearing my head off...something many people on ssnakess love to do.
P.S,
Only 2 more feedings and then back to 7-10...

I have never heard of any healthy feeding regiment for a boid with feedings that often. Remember that wild Ball pythons only eat an average of 13 meals per year.
do u work at tanks alot?
any discounts lol jk

haha! I do work at Tanks!
It is beautiful!
Stop by Tanks anytime....lots of really cool stuff. If there are any specific snakes you are intersted in, just let Gary know, he can keep you posted when they show up on our list. Although I think a deposit is required before he will special order anything, but still, it's better than searching every store from here to Florida, just to find what you want. Patience is a virtue!
We will also be at the T.A.R.A.S Reptile show in Calgary ( not bringing herps) but lots of dry goods, and equipment.
Thanx,
(sorry I forgot to sign into my own name)
