I purchased this snake from an internet breeder, who in turn got him in a trade. He sold him to me for cheap ($100U.S. plus shipping) because he was unsure of the exact lineage, so he wouldn't make a good breeding specimen. He told me he thinks it is a Jungle/Coastal cross, but doesn't know for sure. I think it looks more coastal than jungle, but I figured there would be more people on here who knew better. He is 5ft right now, not sure what age (need to ask). What do you all think?

Yep- could be a Coastal/Jungle mix. Could have a little Diamond in it too. Back in the 80s, people didn't really realize a difference between different types of Carpets so they bred what ever they had. I've got a female that I've had since the early 90s (she's about 6.5 feet) which is similar, but more generically coastal in appearance. Coastals are so variable in pattern & color though, it's hard to tell...
Here are a couple of pics of my "mutt" Carpet for comparison-

Texas Aggie .. A very nice snake but its defenetly got coastal and jungle influence.. I don't see the diamond but who knows..

Is 100 plus shipping a good deal for a cross in the states.. Even in canadian money here.. i find that a bit expensive..

Lora that a nice Irian cross.. With a coastal?

Thanks, Dom. Pretty much I was just giving a history of Carpets in the U.S., not speculating on Texas Aggies' specific snake. I agree that with the banding pattern, it looks like there's some jungle in it. With older U.S. snakes, they could have a little bit of any of the Australian Carpet species in them. Imports identified from IJ were pretty uncommon until pretty recently. I doubt my snake has any Irian in it, due to her age (she's about 10), though the pics do show a lot of brown tones. I've never planned to breed her, so for now, she's just "the Carpet".
