Most calm down with regular handling as long as they were handled since they were young. Some will calm down naturally. Others never calm down at all. It really depends on the snake. Sorry for such an obscure answer, but let's just say that the odds are in favor of the snake calming down into adulthood. :)
I have 2 yearling males and a older female. The 2 males are like Mutt and Jeff! On is a mean little bugger, one is calm. The old female is 100% tractable. I *think* that the older they get, the calmer they get. She is still very active while being handled, but never shows any aggresion.
Cheers!

Mine's about a year now, and she's really sweet...I've only been bitten when its my fault, like when I picked her up from above or smelled like rats :P

Right around 10 months to 1 year of age, 95% of all the Rainbows that have passed through my hands make a 180-degree turn-around in terms of temperment. Its truly a night and day difference. Just wait it out. Out of the 62 babies I have left now, I can just pick up maybe 4 or 5 with my bare hands. But in a year's time, with those same snakes, I could probably just pick up 50-55 of them!

I have a 1.1 that are one month apart. They are coming up on 2 yrs and the female is still unpredictable. I have friends with 1.2 adults and one of their females is a giant and mean to boot.
Cheers,
Trevor
I got a rainbow back at the february show and ive actually never been bit once.I heard everyone saying they are nippy as youngsters but I think if you give them a little work they are awesome for handling.
