can anyone tell me about these snakes I received one as a rescue shedding problems the man said but i think he was just bored with it he finished off his shedd within two days and he is eating. feeding responses are wow.

So if anyone caN HELP PLEASE DO

this is based on my experience with unicolor cribos, which are a subspecies of the same species.

adults can reach 8 ft. house individually as can be cannibalistic. house adult in 4 x 3, babies in sweater boxes. use newspaper as your substrate, cuz these guys have super fast metabolism, often pooping only a few days after they have eaten (and they poop every where). so you will need to clean the cage often, and i would not recomend a naturalistic vivarium as it will be hard to keep it hygenic. water bowl must be available always, but make it too small for the cribo to bathe in it, other wise it will always be filled with poop. give more newspaper than is necessary to cover cage floor as they will attemp to dig, thus wrinkling it up. dont make the temps too high, and ambient temp of 80 with a hot spot at 85 is fine. they tend to spend most of their time on the cool side, basking only after feeding. it is better to err on the side of a cage that is too cold rather than one that is too hot, as this will cause regurge. if it is wild caught it may be reluctant to eat rodents, so you may have to start with fish and later on sent rodents until they will accept them unsented. oh yeah, another reason why they should be on newspaper is that they would otherwise get mouthfuls of substrate very often. other foods you could try: chicks, frogs. they eat a wide variety in the wild.

to sum it up: they are really messy, but otherwise easy to keep, and very hardy.

thank you for your time i have feed him feeder mice no problem and also he have taken a couple of small garden snakes no problem I was told he would also take birds anytime I have one question thoo I heard they are rear fanged animals is this true

Thunder is right except I would place a larger bowl in the enclosure ...they may poop in it ..but you should change it daily or everyother day anyways ....they will eat anything ... tuna from a can, chicken necks (high calcium supplement), live fish (fun to watch), rodents, etc. I keep mine on 2 inches of aspen with lots of wood because they love to bury themselves after eating... otherwise they are out all the time... best of luck

No, the genus is not rear fanged. You have nothing to worry about in case of a bite except for mechanical damage, they have powerful jaws and they are inclined (but not always) to bite and chew.

Agree with most of whats been siad except the small water dish suggestion. Irreguardless of the snake wanting to crap in it often, the dish should be at least large enough for it to bathe in if not larger. Being too lazy (or grossed out lol) to change it isn't a good reason for a small one (sorry, bigger is better) & its quite often easier just to dump the messy water in the toliet verus having it crap all over the enclosure & having to deal with that (Yum Yum). My VBBs almost always crap in theirs too & its easier to deal with that then one thats spread it all over itself & the cage. Mark

I already maid up my mine when I brough him home to put a large dish in the cage I think all snakes like to bath them selves completely I don't mind cleaning up the extra mess it is part of the fun for me but I am going to use newspaper shredings as the bedding I just think iyt is easer and free..I am always cleaning out a cage or two everyother day it gives me the time to handle my herps and also check for any problems..

the reason for the rear fanged question on another board I won't mention the name but I think everyone on there is cracked out 16 year old pubescent sh@t face but anywways there feeding response is like that of my fwc's
