Ok Ladies and Gents. Here's a situation i have. I am 3 weeks from a 1000km road trip. I am moving to Ottawa from Fredericton.
My problem is this...my female honduran has just had a pre-lay shed on a double clutch. Yes, she has approx 10 eggs that i can feel and i suspect she will lay them in the next week or so.

Do you think there is a slim chance that they could make the drive if i can keep a steady temperature for the trip. I figure they will end up scrambled but if the concensus is moderate, i will attempt it.

Roy: Can you recall if she doubled for you? I wonder if she is double clutching because she's had a couple years rest?

Thanks for your input.

I dont think it will be a big deal after all. The first 2 eggs are not viable. I have not introduced the male since the spring and maybe she didnt retain enough sperm from the first lockup.

Brian, I have successfully moved eggs via car, but only gecko eggs. There shouldn't be much difference. It's not the temp that is so much the concern. Its the vibration.
I once had 24 hours notice that my apartment was going to be sprayed for bugs. I had to cart all my animals and even eggs in an incubator to my office.(many years ago)
I just left my incubator at the office and the Leos all hatched. But that was only a 12 km drive.
I think it's doable, but your trip is much further so you'd need to pack them up in a sealed styro with lots of mass, like jell freezer packs left at herp room temp, to hold the temps between 80 and 90F. Then strap the box to some pillows or other means of shock absorbtion, and have the box on the car seat, and not the floor.
I'd say moving eggs is feasible but not without risk.
Best of luck
