This big girl is a rescue that has been with us for several years now. She is well over 4 feet, a total sweetie - but crazy for rats - great feeding response like all of them! Just a plain coastal phase with thin bands - nothing fancy, but we really like her.

and with the albino she was bred to this year

not the most productive clutch - will post pics later when I have them uploaded - in lampropeltus forum -

Mary, that snake of yours looks very much a desert phase!

Wow, thanks for all the pics, I'm really excited now! I'm getting the black and white banded king snake, I just love them!

Do they eat live food or frozen? I have rats as pets so it would be hard for me to feed them live rats, I'd be okay with frozen ones though.

It's best to allways feed Frozen. Feeding live can be hazrdous to the health of your snake, the mice/rat can fight back and injure your snake, so it is allways good pratice to feed dead prey. If you have to feed live prey, allways do it supervised and if possible restrain the mouse/rat so that it doesn't have a chance to injure your snake. But most Cali kings have a huge feeding response, so you shouldn't have a problem feeding F/T.

Depending on how old your Cali King is, you will have to start it out on Mice and then as it get older, if it gets big enough, move it on to rats.

Katt - she is much browner and more ivory yellow in person - my flash washes out the color a lot. Not as great a yellow as the one you have - that striped coastal is outstanding!! I likely shouldn't be referring to her as any specific phase because she is not a great example of one, but she is not as black and white as the pics show - those just happened to be the ones I had on the computer.

NewtoSnakes - definately cal kings will feed on frozen thawed - they have very strong prey drives - will eat anything. In case you haven't been warned before - they also feed on other snakes - so housing them individually is a requirement - no shared cages for these guys.

Thanks Mary! It will be easier for me to feed it then! I've been doing some research and I know they eat other snakes which I think is cool! :) So I know to house them alone! :)

Some good looking CKs folks! As stated F/T prey is the way to go. I think one of the pics I sent you is of White Widow (ate a CK before) & she is trying to eat herself in the pic. These guys are nothing but "feeding response" LOL Mark
