I noticed at a pet shop that I frequently visit that a veiled they had there, looked like he was lossing a couple nails. His other nails also looked very short while some were still regular length. What could have caused this? Is it normal?
Just so I can inform the store owner that he might have a chameleon needing special treatment. We talk quite a bit so I'd like to help him out. And I need you guys to help me help him lol.

So calcium or extra protein couldnt help grow them back?

if the nail is pulled out completly then it most likely will not grow back, but if the nail has just been cut then it will continue to grow naturaly, so no extra calcium or protein wont do much to help toe dammage with chams.

It could be the previous owner (or breeder) actually clipped the nails (as would be done with a bird). There was a Nosy Be at a store near me that had his owner do this to him.

Ok for starters He is not in a screened enclosure, he is at a pet shop in a tank, and cannot reach the screen on top. Aslo I asked about why his nails are so short not just missing.
LIke I said they are short but still sharp so they were not clipped. I think it would be pretty darn hard to keep a chameleon still for toe nail clipping anyways ( not to say it cannot be done, but it would be very difficult I can imagine) , and aside the fact that he came direct from distibutors.

So again Im consernd about the short nails.

Let's try to keep it civil, shall we? No need to accuse him of something since there was no evidence to suggest it. Just stay on topic, keep personal opinions out of the forum if they're not useful to the discussion.
