I'm looking after my cousin's beardie for the week, which is good because it's helping me learn for when I get mine soon. So I have just a couple Q's that more experienced ppl might know.

1) How long does it ususally take for them to warm up in the morning before I should feed them?

2)It's about 8 or so inches(I'm guessing about 3 months) - should I be feeding crix 2 times a day or only one. they left me instructions to only feed veggies in morning and crix at night..... I find this fishy because from what I've read they need crix 2 times a day when this young.

3) Any tips on handling, I tried to get him to climb on my hand last night but it didn't want to, I don't think they handle it much.

Thanks in advance!!

Hey I'll try to help you from all the care sheet and thing I've read which I too reccomend you viewing, this websites got a decent one and so is the one at www.dachiu.com/care/abeard.html

Anyways

1-2) I usually feed mine crickets an hour after lights on and 2 hours before lights out. I feed him what he wants to eat in a 5 minute period which usually amount to about 9-10 crickets then followed by him going to the bathroom which i take care of before finalizing lights out. As far as veggies go at this age they don't eat as much as when their adults so I feed mine about 3 small salads a week but i know others who feed them more and less, but I find my timing with the salads to be almost perfect because he tends to eat them if they show up every other day rather than everyday.

3) As far as handling goes my beardies whos only 8 months is a very calm / tame beardie when I received him I could put my hand in the tank and have him run to it. You'll find out the more you handle them the more they will come around. Out of all my friends who have beardies only one of them receieved one that wasnt as calm as the others who ran when being picked up but after 2 weeks of daily handling and cage maintenence he's as cool as the others with being handled. Acctually mine likes being held so much when I go to put him back in his cage he does 180 and heads back up my arm towards my shoulder. I hope that means he likes me anyways.

Hope I could help but if anyone feels my info is wrong please share I love learning new things daily. Probably why I'm on the board 10-11 times a day :D
