Well just thought I would post a couple pics of my frillies when they were a little angry with me...these guys are a amazing display animals. I love seeing pics of frilleds, I still think they should be more popular then they are

Wow, Jamie, those pics are so cool! Thats what our guy looks like when the cat is looking at him through the glass! He even tries to attack the cat through the glass, LOL!

I agree with you, they should be more poplular! There is one pet store in my area that has them here and there but they always ask for an ungodly amount, like $300 or something!

I'd love to see more pics if you have them!

Glad to see there's other frilly owners around, I love mine!!!
I can't get him to frill for me (he does to my boyfriend) but I guess that's good cuz he's not scared of me.

I have a question that I hope you guys could answer: my frilly doesn't move around much, when he does, it's in spurts of running around for a minute and then stopping. He mostly just lays there either basking or in the back corner. he doesn't eat much either (I've tried a few different things). Is it typical for frilleds to not be active? I'm worried about him and want him to be happy!

I'm planning to move him to a bigger cage soon, it's all set up, but I wanted to make sure he's okay to move.

Everything I've read said that juvi frilled dragons are very active and scared, pretty much till adults.....

Any advice would be appriciated! Thanks!

Jess

Hey. I have 3 breeders. Sorry no pics though. ALL frilleds should be active...my adults are and my hatchlings (cutest things of all time) are as well. The reduced diet is usually caused by the inactivity. If he doesn;t use up very much energy he wont need to eat to acquire it.

He might not be active cuz he doesn;t have enough space. The tank should be at least 2 times his total length tall, long and about the same length as him wide. But the bigger the beter...I have a pair in a 6x4x2 but becuase i dont know the size of yours i cant really venture a guess. They can eat all sorts of bugs but avoid large quantities of hard shelled worms i.e. meal worms. They should also eat lots. I.e. a dozen crickets a day. The food also needs to be dusted with prob vitamin and calcium supplements. They also need a proper heat source providing a basking spot of 100 or so, and an ambient temperature of mid to high 70's, and a proprer UVA/UVB emitting fluorescent light. They also need to be kept hydrated through regular spraying at least once a day and provided a large water pan. If any of these things are off this might cause the frillie to be inactive and a decreased diet. They also need to be given their space. If you are constantly moving in and out of the tank or even people around the tank this will cause him stress and his activity will be effected. I would avoid handling him until he picks up. Because I dont have enough information about him in particular I can't really comment...he could also be wild caught and have parasites affecting him...

In terms of the new enclosure dont hesitate to provide more space for him, it cant harm him. Be sure to move some of the accesories into the new enclosure for a familiar scent, which will reduce the slight stress of a new home.

Good luck!
