View Full Version : Finally...a female black blood!
As you saw in MattK's post, we purchased the pair of black bloods from Grant VG. I have been searching for a female black blood to compliment my male with no avail. They are tough to find in Canada!
She has more brown than my male, a silver head and those cool eyes that we all love. Very happy to finally have a pair of these snakes!
Here she is ...

Awesome female! Is that what you would call a "chrome head" black blood? Good luck with the pairing!
C.
Ken,
I have alot to learn and do before any breeding takes place but I think I will breed my two black bloods.
Chris,
Black bloods come with three different coloured heads (black, orange & tan or similar variations of). Though I find their heads go through some colour changes and this is where the chrome head can show up. My black headed male seems to stay consistently black (have a feeling I miss the changes) but I know Yvonnes black blood definitely goes through some colour changes and she has a thread on it.
Grant VG or Kara (KLG) or Angel can probably shed some more light on this. I am interested in this also.
I am really starting to like this girl as she has already eaten and is roaming around her new cage.

Hey,
The moniker as it were, was coined to describe some of the silver headed Red bloods according to Dave Barker, that were being found in Peninsular Malaysia. However, the moniker just fit so perfectly to describe some of the Sumatran short-tails, being found in southern Sumatra, and I guess the name just stuck. I would definitely call that a "Chrome-Head". Very nice find! All the best to you with her and the breeding project.
