Mark, Congrats on the new baby GB's...

Can you tell me, I worked with Grey Bands some 10-12 years ago and remember having a hard time getting them started on pinks, I would use all the feeding trickery recommended back then but always had the hardest time getting them started.

I was told that now of days with so many generations of captive rodent feeders, the feeding response from years of evolution had been bred out of notorious lizard feeders. I find that quite hard to beleive after only a handful of generations.

Basicaly, are they now much easier to feed of the bat?

Thanks for sharing...

Hi Marc, Big NEGATIVE on the easy to establish. The odd babies start off OK, but most don't. You can fart around with all the methods in the world, but I've found it best just to wait them out. Most don't have any interest at all in food until they are 2-3 months old & then they are pretty much like baby Corns. You will get the odd ones to eat here & there with your weekly attempts & then all of a sudden, everyone wants to eat, right around the 2 month mark. I think in the wild that they just go hide until spring & I know others have had success by giving them a quick cooling period (mock winter) & then offering prey when warmed up again. I just keep offering them weekly & the odd ones start going & then one week they all of a sudden all decide to eat, except the real stubborn ones LOL The big thing with them I think is disposition. These guys are wimps. I can't beleive they are even Kingsnakes as they are more docile than even Corns. The lack of aggression definitely hampers the feeding process thats for sure. Mark
P.S. 3 clutches hatched so far (37 babies) & 3 more to go! Feel free to inquire about unestablished GBs LOL
