I AM BIULDING A NEW TANK FOR A CORN. WHICH IS BETTER, WORSE ,EQUAL, USING MELAMINE (EXPENSIVE),BARE WOOD(ROTTING),OR SOME KIND OF PAINT WHICH KIND IS BEST(RELIABILITY) .

Melamine all the way, it's not that much to buy I get mine at home depot it's only 25 bucks for 5/8"x8'x4'. You could make 2 or 3 cornsnake cages with that.

Is melamine just particle board with the white outside? Or is it plastic or something??

pretty much, it is some kind of resin based coating. that is what I'm using now, it is heavy. but it does work quite well

my understanding is melamine is a good solution for a few years, and then the water gets through and rots the wood. Besides, everybody comes up with something they wish they had done different to their cages. wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a few melamine cages then a wood one and the epoxy for it?
