Clutch mates that hatched over the past 24 hours or so...

http://www3.mb.sympatico.ca/~cranwill/net_pics/corns08.jpg

These came from dbl het X dbl het breeding. Out of almost 30 babies in the first clutch, I got NO snows. From the 20-odd eggs in this clutch, I got 4 snows! lol Who knows???? :D

Nice little clutch mix there~ I love working with genetics of corns~

you're missing another basic stuff in there...you should have a triple het x triple het.. normal het amel, anery, hypo would be nice~ that would throw you a couple of nice stuff~

But guess what? I am now working ong 5 hets..

normal het lava, lavender, striped, bloodred, amel LOL! If I can get all that in one animal, I'll be right up in the sky!!

Brian,
LOL! Yes you did post in the Elaphe Guttata Guttata form! You are missing out a lot my friend!!

That's a beautiful little batch of babies you've got there Tim! :D That's one of the things that I think is really cool about corns, is the variety of babies you can get from a single clutch... pretty crazy!

Congrats on the new little ones, they look great :)

Tim,

So are all 50 or so eggs from the same female? If so 4 snows is about right statistically isn't it? If I understand what you mean you got 50 eggs all bred from the same pair of DH for snows... hmmm what did you get in the end as far as total number of amels, anerys, snows and hets? It should come out 3 snow, 9 each of both anery and amel and 28 hets plus one left over... at least that's how I have it worked out. lol! Just curious what you
actually ended up with.

I made some snow hets this year but I think what I'll do is keep one of the boys and pair him up with mom when the time comes, that should be pretty nice.

That quintuple het business is totally insane Simon, you must be stopped. lol! I'll take a pair of lava lavender bloodred stripes please!

Ditto what Jeff said... that pic is totally cool. Sorta sums up some of the neato things about corns and all the crazy morphs you can get from a single clutch... ( Did I just say that??????) Nonetheless, even if I am suffering from a bout of temporary insanity, congrats on the the clutch! :D

MouseKilla, I'm not sure of the totals yet because some of them are still in the egg. I will post that info though. I just thought it was funny how I got blanked on the 1/16 from the first 30 eggs and then I get 4/20 in the next clutch! :D

Thanks for the kind works, my fellow snake lovers! LD

I wish that I would get something like that in the future....but its going to take me years.....so I don't think that I'll still be here before that lava opal bloodred striped is going to pop up....LOL
but it would be awesome to see one though~!!

Great pic and gorgeous baby corns - so nice to get a mix of varieties. Now how are you going to decide what to keep!!

So the total for the two clutches, not including a couple that didn't make it for various reasons are:

23 Normals = 53.5%
5 Amel = 11.6%
7 Anery = 16.3%
3 Snow = 7.0%
5 Aztecs = 11.6%

This truly is the spice of life, isn't it? I can't wait to start breeding some double or even triple hets... or maybe some of Simon's 5x hets. That would be like Xmas!!

Tim,

Just wondering..
when I was reading your stats why did you put the aztecs as separate?
Cause Aztecs are normals~ LOL~

Just wondering....

Ken,
Oh playing with 5 x hets is NOT fun......at least not fun with identifying animals...and I can tell you, you will definite be all over the place.writing info cards are like a mad man crying out for help...LOL...
but getting so many different colorations in one clutch is pretty fun~

Simon, yeah I know. :p It's a strange "trait" but they are still a bit different so I put them n their own. All of the Aztecs I got came from the 1st clutch. I saw some aberrancies in the 2nd clutch but nothing too drastic.
