Tired of crix

I have come to the conclusion Max just doesn't want crix right now. For whatever reason he decided that because he gets offered his silks and other insects a few days a week, that when I give him crix he just won't go near them, and hold out for the goods. How long should I keep him on supers/silks/waxies until trying crix again? Has anyone else experienced their chams getting tired of crix?

Also, I am looking into cup/bowl feeding Max so I can monitor his intake better, but he refuses anything in a container-like offering. Any suggestions on teaching him the fine art of cup/bowl feeding? :D

My other concern was his weight .. I have no idead on average or how to tell if he is skinny.

My veiled cham has never got tired of crickets but my leo has.

I would offer him crickets everyday.

When I kept a Veild, he got tired of crix so I offered different feeders like you. After a while he got back onto crix but he liked silkies better. Have you looked into roaches???

Try to get a large enough bowl that the crix have tons of space to move around, maybe that will help stimulate a better feeding response. Good luck and keep us updated.

Feed him worms for a while liek a full week no crix and when he sees a crix after that he will go nutzo, try and keep it mixed, soo he dotn get sick of stuff as much as u can, my panther is crazy for worms but only eats crix to fill his tummy. But will eat worms like nuts. to each his own i guess.

Yeah. I got some advice from an anomynous source (cough *Lowell*) who said to that that, or to not feed him for 2 days, and then try crix again.

I'll do that, and if it doesnt work I'll do the worms for a full week and then try crix again.

He looks to be a great weight...why don't you just try mealies for a while? or you could vary his diet some...

mealies are so quiet anyway :P

Well I would stick to supers for a week, with waxies and silks as a lesser part of the weeks diet. This is because I know of several people who have used supers (while ill advised) as a staple, and I have a supplier that offers them to me at the same price as crix.

Sounds good...if you're worried about the supers/mealies, just use freshly molted ones... get a big enough supply and they'll be quite abundant :)

I had a similar experience with one of my adult males - I had only 1/2 size crickets for a few weeks, after getting full sized ones, he was more interested.

Your guy looks good. I always judge mine by the base of the tail - nice and fat!
