Question about drinking water

First off, I've always used distiled water for all my herps. Now, I've heard recently that its ok to use tap water for snakes and lizards. Is this true? And if so, can I switch directly from dis. water to tap water? Thanks.

But this could also be all opinion and speculation. I would never use distilled water. Its bad for us to drink, how can it be good for reptiles to drink?

i work at a biology lab, and our practice in terms of water is as follows: distilled water for all of the phibs (obviously), tap water for all warm blooded animals as they require many of the minerals that have been added to it for human benefit and may become deficient without it, reptiles may have either according to convenience, as the added substances are neither harmful nor neccessary to them.
