scott,
took a while to get her started, she was very shy and weary of anything in her enclosure, but now she eats real well on large adult mice, live of course.
shes an amazing snake!

MATT:

WOW just outstanding viper there and the photos are gorgeous as well.

Man the mouse that does not see that coming is really blind, lol.

Scott, I cant wait to breed her, shes such a huge female, I just need to find a male that is a good size as well and have some HUGE babies :)

Tony, I got her from a private sale at the April show in Hamburg, PA...couldnt be happier!

Now all you need is a bright green snake! ;)

That is also a very good illustration why Provent-a-Mite (etc) is dangerous for arboreal vipers. I have heard horror stories of the residue fromt he permethrin making them drop dead after lapping up water off the cage and decorations. Just thought I would throw that out there as a random tidbit. ;)

Uggh. Ya'll keep reminding me why I hate GA laws. And now that the serpentarium is shut down, I dont get to work any of the fun exotic stuff.

Matt seams we both need mates for our Greenies. I am looking a lot and if i run across some I will e-mail you. Imports come in but their shape is usually bad and require a lot of work as you know but may be the only choice. if your intrested let me know

Beautiful snake Matt and Scott. When I get more experienced with herps (and move out :P ) that will be the first venomous snake I get! They're beauts!

hi guys, I have a question..

My two green tree vipers stopped feeding 4 weeks ago.. nothing has changed in the cages or in hunidaty only the temp is a bit up because of the summer... Not I tried leaving a fuzzy mouse in the cage in the night after I spray some water but still nothing.. They don't seem to lose weight but stiil it is a bit strange I think for both of them to stop feeding.. They are just 1 year old .. any ideas?

cheers niek

Could be simply off feed ,Try tease feeding with some long tongs and see if that gets a responce.

skin78
07-23-04, 05:38 PM
well if I tease them they will strike and strike and just kill the fuzzy mouse :S then leave the prey item in the cage and go sleep somewhere else.. I also tried to leave the dead mouse in the cage for 2 days but still doesn't work.

skin78, these guys tend not to eat quite as much as one might expect, going off food is not uncommon....4 weeks isnt that long, so just give him time to come around.
I would offer him live prey once a week and my bet is that eventually he will take it....unless he is losing weight, i wouldnt worry

make sure the ground is free from clutter and put the mouse of the ground.....if he is large enough to take a hopper try that instead, since they are able to move around more.....that may stimulate a feeding response

Thanks im finally figuring out the camera and its operations. the black is actually the back of the cage. I painted all three sides black on the outside of the cage.
