View Full Version : To breed or not to breed....
Hey All,
As soon as i finish building a custom tank I plan on buying a frilly. I've heard of thier legendary appitietes....one guy I was talking to said his frilly ate around 2 douzen crickets a day( which would be 168 crickets a week), and from the current place I buy that's about $8 a day or $56 a week. Needless to say I'd soon be bankrupt. So i'm now faced with a choice should I breed my own crickets or simply find a supplier who sells large qauntitys for cheap? If anyone could recomend me some good cricket suppliers in canada who sell large qauntitys of crickets( 1000 plus would be good) for affordable prices. Or if anyone breeds there own crickets could you maybe give me the breakdown or recomend a good site that gives you a step by step guide.
Thx alot
Kayla:)

If you can find a supplier(such as Canadian feeders in ontario), you can probably get crix for a good price. Right now im getting 500 for 15 bucks.

my advice is just watch what you buy frilled-wise. i saw one at one particular big chain petstore in London, that they had one that looked horrible and they wanted $800 for it. the one's i've dealt with were wild caught and have very poor appetites to start; it does pick up though if you can get them to eat or if they're CB. i have 4 of my own (3 of which are girls) and i find females are REALLY picky eaters to start with, esp. if they're wild caught. maybe it's just females of any species are picky. lol.
n e way Rob from Canadian Feeders in Windsor, ON is the best IMO. i manage a petstore and will only deal with him for feeders. they always arrive live, they're awesome prices, and they're actually the size you order (which i've found to be a problem with other suppliers). if you need his info, let me know.
thanks,
emily

I use silkworms.ca They are located in Mississauga. They have everything (except hornworms) a Frilled Dragon could want.

Try PCPC, I think 1000 crix cost 25 plus tax. Thats were I get mine from.

I get mine for 1000/$20 tax included. But there's a minimum order of $50 and sometimes you get larger or smaller than the size you ordered. He's located in Eastern Toronto, I'll PM you his info if you want it.
Thx i'll check out silkworm.ca and then compare prices with pcpc. Alan it would be great if you would pm me and i'll compare prices too.
