Hello,

It is with a heavy heart I am here to tell you that one of my rescues died today. He was a bearded dragon I had rescued with chronic liver disease that went to the BEST possible home he could have gone to. He got all the medical care and attention he needed, and then some. My friend and her family are very upset with his passing and are looking for another rescue beardie to fill the void. If anybody has one needing a home or knows of someone with one, please let me know.

Thank you, JJ and the Zoo

Awww Jen, that sucks. I'm sorry.

If you were a little closer, I definately would be happy to help you out. Not really a rescue, but I have one of my females that needs to be housed singlely as she's taken to biting the others, never us, just the dragons :( Have a wee guy with a nipped tail and couple of toes that could go for a good cause as well.

Sorry for your friend...its very hard to lose a beardie, and i can almost imagine losing a rescue beardie..

I had a perfectly healthy Beardie, full of life, until after 2 days of depression looking, i found him dead, his face frozen in pain..that scarred me pretty much..i think it was a heart attack....

Anyway, i went out that day to get food for the remaining Beardie(Spike, who died just over a month later :( ) and i saw a Bearded Dragon there, of which its body was thin and you could see his ribs, his had brown all over him, and old unhealed brusises, very scabby looking.

He was so bad, his previous owner, was very cruel to him, didnt pay any attention to him, and had to resort to his dad only feeding him when he had time.

In the end his dad brought him back, and reluctantly the seller took it back.He thought it would die.Anyway, when i got there, i think it was a few days after he got it back, this being the day Tyler died, i literally begged my Dad to let me get this one.

2 Reasons i got it.

To fill the void from my old beardie.
Because i felt sorry for it, and wanted to help it live whatever days it had left out as well as it could, instead of in a tank where it didnt have alot of handling, different fod e.t.c. and love.

So we get this beardie, and i take him home, and both my parents are
skeptical on the length of life he has left.We let him get into the new tank, and since his body is too small, and his head was too big for his body, he flopped to one side when he walked, and looked positively drunk.

This beardie had no hope of living, and yet somehow, it is 1 year, 2 months and 26 days since i got this beardie, and hes doing fine now, seems pretty healthy, if not for a few unhelad bruises(near his vent sort of.)

Anyway, my point of this is, to anyone reading this, it is rewarding to help a lizard in need by rescuing them(as they say here)That beardie would be dead if i didnt get it sooner,, it didnt seem to like the seller much, and so didnt eat much e.t.c., and i made a difference, at least i like to think so.

Would this count as a rescue?I dont know what the defintion of Rescueing a beardie is....
