Hey

How come I never see any ads in the news paper or pet stores for reptile baby sitting. I think it would be pretty nice, cause if you go on vaction it would be nice for someone else to watch for your reptiles indeed of you for once. Just a thought, but do you think people would actully call?

I wouldn't. Only because with reptiles, the minimal care they require in most cases compared to a dog or cat is easy to get a trusted friend or family member to take over. Most people don't go on many vacations longer than a week anyway, and I just leave my snakes alone when I am gone for a week or less. Mind you all my heating is controlled and I do have roomates to keep a small eye on things.

The pet store I work at offers Animal sitting care when families take vacations for a minor cost per day. As stated, there is not much of a demand for reptiles but various furry friends are abundant!

I think the more animals that you have, the less chance you have of actually taking a vacation, let alone the two-week average that Canadians take. I know that I personally have no one that I would trust enough with their knowledge and ability to leave them in full care of my reptiles/rodents for even a week's time.

I'm taking a year long vacation to Europe. And advertised on this site and others for a snake sitter. Had multiple people volunteer. But in the end I ended up deciding to sell him instead. *heartbreak* He leaves on Saturday.

I'm lucky enough to have a cousin only a few hours away who keeps moniters and various other lizards who i would trust my reptiles with any day but besides him i'd never give them to a babysitter, because with my luck i'd come back and they would of sold them off.
