Does anyone feed lobster roaches to their cresties? Whats the nutritional value of these roaches? Are they pretty much the same as crix? I cant seem to find anything on the net.
Thanks

check this out. It is a thread on the BCF posted by one of the moderators....apparently people do feed these bugs to their geckos.

They are nasty looking :D but if they are a good feeder insect, its worth a try.

I just can't see myself bringing any type of roach into my house. As many crickets as I have escape I'd be infested with roaches and besides, I can stand many different kinds of bugs but roaches just make my skin crawl. YEW! lol
If you can manage to get a tropical species that would be unable to survive in the conditions of your home, there shouldn't be a problem. There are litereally hundreds of species of roaches, just try to find a tropical species and have a tank labelled 'Alcatraz' that's escape proof if you're so unsure of them.

Lobster roaches make good feeders. And also seem too be less adapt too escaping then other species. Mine stay in a large 57L Rubbermaid with the top 3 inches of the walls coated with Vaseline this stops all escapes. You can uses very fine screening as well (very fine) but always use Vaseline that way during feeding you can just reach in and grab a couple leaving the lid off without worry of escape. I’d also like too note this works very well with lobster roaches but not as well with other species.
They also do not reproduce unless kept VERY warm there fore the WORSE case scenario is they infest your warm house during the summer. but they do reproduce at an alarming rate. The trick too breeding them is space and HEAT. There breeding slows down too almost a halt when they run out of room or if its not HOT in the cage (around 30 C works best), but take 20 of them out into a new container and at the right heat and it will be full in no time.
