N. Pine from SCALES **pics**

I picked up this li'l beauty from Ryan and Sheila about a week or so ago. He shed his first a few days ago and took his first meal two days ago. (I specifically asked to get him before his first shed.) His first meal consisted of a hopper. YES, a HOPPER. This is one BIG baby. Forty three grams before he shed. He's bigger than a 6 mos old corn! Stronger than a baby cal king. Able to leap buildings in a single bound!

He ate very easily too, just a li'l tap on the nose and he opened his mouth to accept. Chewed chewed chewed and hopper down the hatch. Definitely like these li'l buggers!! Plus he's so tame! No hissing, no tail rattling, nothing.

If I had more money, I'd pick up at least another one of these. I picked out the palest baby, so I imagine the rest are really colourful. This guy just has an apricot wash over him. Can't wait til Ryan posts the rest of the babies.

These n. pine babies are the biggest babies I've ever seen. Bigger than a baby bull.

I will take some pictures of the other ones soon, as they have all shed. The only ones that haven't eaten so far, have some fuzzies in with them right now, and I don't expect the fuzzies will last very long.

I'll feed them hoppers next time.

Tim, they are kind of an overlooked species. Not many people are breeding them in Canada, and those who know how cool N. Pines are, usually get them right away so there aren't usually many that show up in adds.

Jeff, I saw a picture the other day of you holding one of ours at last year's Red Deer show. You were wearing your fancy beach hat and everything.

Definitely a cool and LARGE species. How big are the adults Ryan? I'd say around six feet.

Growing this guy up should be awesome. Vanan has a 1.5 yr old female who is taking small rats and four feet long!! She's huge!

Can't wait to see this guys brothers and sisters, now that they have shed. Vanan and I had a great time picking him out from the clutch. They were all pretty blue and a bit hissy. This guy was a bit hissy, but now that he's shed, is soooo tame!!! He let me move him all over with a single tail rattle!!

I have a baby Bull Snake that is only a month old and he is also eating hoppers or rat fuzzies. Its very cool how big the Bulls & Pines hatch out.
