Hello everyone:

Well today was feeding day and I had a bit of juice in the batteries of the camera. So you know I was goning get a few photos. Here you will see eating habits of boas and pythons. Animals listed in the photos are:

AMANUET - Salmon Boa
CLEOPATRA - Colombian Boa

EURUS - Regular Ball Python
NOTUS - Regular Ball Python

Here you see AMANUET taking down here 3 frozen thawed Adult rat. And under here you see CLEOPATRA ripping into a frozen thawed 3 lbs rabbit.

Now here you see my 2 larger ball pythons eating.

NOTUS is eating a frozen thawed small rat. Poor rat just followed the pattern and fell into that death grip, lol. Then under her is EURUS, my biggest ball python which has been so hungry in the last month. Jumping from small rats to medium rats in the blink of an eye. If you notice the body on her and see when the back pattern of the tail is under her belly portion the dots almost connect......just something neat I noticed when I started this post. Look at the top right corner photo.

Well I hope you all enjoyed the photos as I enjoy sharing them.

Questions and comments welcomed.

Beautiful snakes, quick question, how do u know when to feed more than one rat?..are u just feeding it more rats because a rabbit would be to much larger than the widest part of the body?...dumb question, i know but confused about when u know to feed more than one rat?...:)

BIGBADACE:

I am waiting on an order on smaller rabbits of 1.5 - 2 lbs and have a freezer full of rats so I give of my boids multiples till I have the right size in the freezer for them. Not a dumb question actually. I feed usually only 1 prey item per snake to give a decent lump in the belly. Once I see that is not working and the next size maybe to to large then i feed 2 items and after a few months of that they go to next size. This methods works well in my collection of boas. Although with slimmer pythons I will go smaller prey but 2 or more feeds depending on the species and the habits they are used too. And larger mid section pythons like balls or bloods I go bigger that matches the snakes girth, creats no lump but they do well on that system.
