Silk Worms,Staple for cresties???

Apparently silkies are very good for geckos,but all they do is cost alot,now i may buy some eggs,in the future when the crested i get gets old enough to eat them,is this a good idea???it seems like it is a good staple along with baby food since they would stick to branches in the enclosure and not move tyo fast and the crested could just eat it up...good idea or not?

Crested Geckos really like the movement during the hunt..mine won't accept silkies but yours might. They'd be excellent as a staple diet but you're right about the cost. I'd personally stick to crickets and offer silkies as a treat.

all prices in canadian,when the crested gets older...so silkies dont move too much???Well ill maybe mix in silkies with baby food and crix..meh if i cant get the crested to eat it ill hand feed it like i do with my leo...squeeze the tip of there tail and they really wiggle...then wam. gone :D i dunno bout cresties but leos cand resist something squirming in there face.

My cresteds wont eat silkies eithor, but they did however eat some butter worms. I'm thinking that maybe it's the fruity smell but who knows. lol, Normaly they just want crickets and baby food and you can also buy cg diet for them. Is it because you don't want to deal with crickets?

Well actualy i dont mind any kind of bug,im not squeemish at all towards them the only thing i may be squeemish towards is fruit!and food i find disgusting...lol i dont eat my fruits or vegies so no thats not the case,crickets smell really bad,i mean really bad,i prefer to have worm colonies then crickets who crap everywhere and etc,also crix die really fast,but then again i would like to see the crested hunt on the branches for crickets.As for the silkie deal maybe i could dip half the silkie(bottom half) into babyfood and put on on the branch so the crested could smell it??

In my experience silkies are awesome for cresteds, the problem is getting them to recognize them as a food source. To this day I only have 1 Crested that will only accept silkies occasionally, and that is because I got him as an adult and I think they really get used to certain food sources, the movement of things like crickets and roaches helps alot too. Ive noticed my cresteds that do eat silkies oftentimes won't see them move at all, but now that they recognize them as a food source the movement of me dropping the silkie into the cage gets their attention and they will walk up and flick their tongue a few times to make sure of what it is and then whack it. With all of my animals the first few feedings of silkies has been frustrating, but even my Fat Tails and Fire Skinks are now used to a staple diet of Silk worms.

Btw, thats some expensive prices for silkworms up there!!

The prices are all canadian though,ive decided ill mix silkworms in if i can with crix,super,mealie,baby food.
