Escape

I have an adult leo that just escaped and is now roaming my house. She found some way out of her tank and now we cannot find her, she just laid a clutch of fertile eggs and is gravid now. Anyone have any special leo finding tips or devices?

anywhere thin and dark they will mash there way into so look where u dont think she can be

Cramped dark places like under furniture, under the refridgerator (the heat from the compressor attracts them like a magnet). I've heard of them finding a way underneath or behind baseboards, and in sofas or padded furniture. Don't forget to look up too. Even though they can't climb walls, they can climb drapes. A friend found an escapee on top of the curtain rod. He'd climbed up the drapes and curled up in the fabric folds up there, safe from the dogs.
You could try putting a heat pad under an open box that he can climb into, someplace in a dark corner, he might zero in on that.

Man this has been happening alot lately....... How do all these leos escape???? They dont come with lock picks now, do they????? No, I know, they got that new leo morph with sticky pads on their feet......:rolleyes:

I have 2 cats and 1 dog, but I will put out a cage with a heater for her to get into. the leo escaped through a small hole on top of a large tank by climbing a tall rock, and somehow stretching 3-4 inches straight up, which i thought would be impossible for her.thanks for all the advice

yeah, they have a good desire to escape, but I think most reptiles do

have you kept your dog and cats kenneled up since the escape?...maybe not so much the dog, but it seems that cats would find particular interest in it, not as food, but as toy

I used to have leo named Daisy that was NOTORIOUS for escaping. She eventually had to be put into a tank with a lid, and something heavy to secure it because she was THAT GOOD at getting out. Finding her, however was never a problem. Every morning she'd be in the same place as always... curled up in the mattress on the floor where I slept (with *me*). This girl could get out of anything, and sometimes I thought she got out, just to get out... she could have gone anyplace she wanted, but everymorning she was next to me (on the floor).

I think the above ideas for finding leos are good, but really, just try to stay up late (if you can) and be observant. Keep lights low, and I used to keep a Kritter Keeper full of active, chirping, moving crickets (this won't fail to catch a hungry leo's eyes, or nose, or ears... LOL). Place onto floor in secluded area and keep watch. It may take several days or even months to find your friend, but never give up. Good luck, and please update us!

The gecko was discovered this morning crawling out from under our stove, which I had thoroughly searched yesterday twice, she must have hiddened in some crevice we dont know about because we checked everywhere, She is now safe and the hole she escaped through is sealed up very tightly.
