First tarantula

I picked up my first tarantula tonight. I just happened to be browsing through my favorite herp shop on payday (I'm sure everyone knows how that is) and ran across this girl. I had been considering a baby grey banded kingsnake but decided to stick my hand into the spider cages for once. Needless to say, the little B. smithi won me over. The folks there told me to get used to her because she will probably be with me for another twenty years or so. I stopped on the way home and picked up a suitably sized rubbermaid container, not very large but it kinda dwarfs her... she's only about two and a half inches long.

PS. The paper towel is just for tonight, I'll go in search of substrate in the morning.

Very nice tarantula to start off. Be ready to buy more tarantulas though. You wont stop buying them.

yeah i can't wait for mine to look like that too! mines getting a little more colour with each molt, but shes still only a couple inches. big difference between molts though! *grin*
