IS this wierd sleeping position normal?

We added a cute little beardie to our family 3 weeks ago...we love him dearly... I have seen him a couple of evenings sleeping in the corner on his back legs... I took a picture so you can see it.
Is this normal? should I move the little guy?

i have a few that like to sleep in that position aswell, my suggestion...move the lil guy everytime u see him, it creates a kink in their back as adults....but dont worry it doesnt affect them health wise, just an unsightly kink lol!

Completly normal, you should see some of the ways my male will sleep...

As far as moving him i wouldn't even bother, that's where he felt comfortable. One of my males favorite spots to sleep is right in the middle of the glass with his big ol' belly and face planted right on the glass. I just leave him be, without any problems or "kinks".

yeah, mine sleppp that way too, How old is he? he looks a little young to be on sand?

He's around four months old. He was on sand in his tank when we bought him. Is there a better/ more appropriate substrate for him at this age?

i use indoor/outdoor carpet when they are that small, sand can cause compaction

Thanks , I will change that up right away. I appreiciate your advice as we are new at beardies. At what age can he be on sand? and..... Is the Calcium sand better or just the regular zoomed or trex stuff better for him.

id use just regular sterilized playsand from the hardware store, i Have heard bad things about the calci sand, i would waight till he was at least 10 months old

I have never had problems with my young beardies on sand. Guess its more of a personal preferance then anything. Yes they can injest it and it can cause problems but personally I have never had any probs with any beardies on sand over the years.

well like you said it can cause problems, why even take a chance? if you dont have to. Fourtreefrogs, it is a very good idea to put him on carpet, and voodoo, one day you will wake up and one of your babies will be all bloated due to compaction and then youll change your opinion. Why cant people learn from others mistakes?

i wouldn't worry personally over the sand so long as a warm enough basking spot is provided, the heat generally helps move the sand along through their digestive track should they ingest some, but it deffinately wouldnt hurt moving it to the carpet, but just as an observation i've noticed my bearded dragons dont generally dive into the crickets or whatever it is i feed them, they normally use their tongue to pick up the food, but once again, just an observation i've made with my beardies
