I was wondering what you guys and girls thought the best beginner turtle/tortoise would be for a beginner. I have a friend here at work who would like to get a turtle or a tortoise. She does not want to feed it living things. she would rather it eat fruit and vegies and that sort of things. If you guys could suggest a good one for a beginner I would really appreciate it. I myself breed leo's and know nothing about turtles or tortoises. Any advice would be great.

Mike,

a good starter turtle Would be a RES in my opinon. There are many up for adoptions all over they are not hard to find. And for a first tortoise i think a Russian Tortoise is a good one.

Hope this helps

RES are omnivores. if she wants an animal that is pretty much a herbavore, go with a small tortoise such as a russian.
