Holy cow! That's pretty cool. :)
I had a corn lay a mini-egg this year. It wasn't fertile but it looked good from the start. :(

Ryan... I really like those red hypo-ish ones you have... Are you producing those this year or not till 05? Those are some of the finest looking hogs around. Put a pic up again
The female that laid the dwarf egg just double clutched last night with 15 more normal size eggs.
I'm going to try to tripple clutch her.
Last year she had 47 eggs in only two clutches spaced one month apart... I didn't rebreed her after the 2nd clutch and she went and dumped a third clutch anyway ,all slugs late summer.
Hogs can be major egg machines but they have problems with calcifying the shells, and getting egg bound..then some of them eat their own eggs, but luckily mine dont.
That seems to run in some blood lines but not in all.
I'm not sure how common dwarf eggs and babies are, but this isn't the first time I've had minihogs.
My bloodline usually eats well, and hogs have huge mouths..
I hope to next post a pic of if gobbling a new born mouse...It might take a few weeks, but we'll see...
Thanks everyone for your interest!!
Hognose snakes are great...plus they hatch in 45 days one of the quickest colubrids out of the egg.
I want albinos and hypos some day soon

I am aware that some people have some troubles with getting baby hognose to eat, but the majority of the ones I have hatched take pinkies right off, sometimes in only a few days. The ones that eat first I keep, and have been doing so for a great many years...So the eating problem might run in bloodlines, and certainly using first feeders for hold backs for the next generations should produce more and more good mouse feeders.
Occasionally they will eat once or twice then stop. Brumation is sometimes the key, as this would be normal for them in the wild where they'd be lucky to eat once or twice before winter.
Here's a 5 day old nasicus eating a live pinkie

Hey.... That looks really red? What's up with that?
Nuclear hoggies?
I think I have to probe our red ones, I don't think it is 1.1 - they are equal size, but bigger than our other males, but smaller than our females. I've been putting it off, our probes keep finding themselves misplaced.

Yes, I produce some reddish ones, and some black and white ones and everything in between all in the same litters. I even produced a semi pin striped weird one which I still have... Hoping to make striped hogs some day, but not soon. I've only produced one like this out of hundreds
I can't believe my gallery is full already.. I had to shrink the photo
