I was just wondering what it means when thy curl up in there water bowls and just stay there... Because My 8 month BP, has been like that for 4 days straight now, I just wanted to make sure its nothing bad. I took him out for a visit today and he was a little weird at first but after about 5 mins he took on his old happy self again.
thanx,

He could be soaking b/c it is too dry in his enclosure, shoot for about 60% humidity, OR he could be going in to shed, in which raise to about 75% humidity, and maybe even offer a humid hide.

Mites? What are the enclosure temps?

temp is around 100. he was recently treated for mites, I checked him over, he doesnt have any.
Too hot!! He's in the water dish to cool off, you're fryin' him. Get those temps down to between 90-92-ish.

100? That i would say is a bit warm...
Does he have a gradient in the cage or is the whole cage that one temp?
I would down his hot side to around the 90 mark, and his cool side to around the 80 mark..
You kind of have to read your snake.. If he is in the water bowl alot like you said and usually doesnt do it there is a good reason for it, and from the sound of what you said it is to high of temp..
Also say if he was to always stay on the hot side of the cage, that would prob tell you his cage is too cold. See where i am going with this?
Hope this helps a bit for you..

100???? Holy crap!! You are going to KILL your snake.
Get a book. FAST.
Cool end 80F, warm end 90-92F.
That's insane.

No no, mis-understanding, 100 is the reading but thats directly on the UT heater, there's about an inch of substrate over top. Which puts it down to around 90.

Well then put your thermometer where the snake actually IS. Why measure the heat pad if the snake is not on it? Is it more important to know the temperature of the heat pad or the snake?
As for the soaking, unless your ball has mites, I wouldn't worry too much. If you want the snake to stop soaking, give it a smaller dish. :)
It is terribly easy for your snake to burrow into the substrate, with him ending up directly on top of the UTH, which would be 100 deg. I would do something about it. He's already asked you, as best he could to help him out.

with my snakes..2 of them stay in their water bowl for days..after they get out..they take a huge dump..lol..i don't know..but this is 2 out of 20 snakes i have...so it can't be temp probs..
Ok then you must have it figured out. Don't you think you should give them the benefit of the doubt and double-check their temps?

Hey Mykee..I may be wrong but..I hope you didn't reply to my answer..cuz I'm not the one who asked the question =P
I was just giving her other reasons to maybe why her snakes are taking a dip in their water bowl =P
