I was at the pet shop the other day and saw a cham that was labeled as a 'dwarf chameleon'. But upon coming home and attempting to find info on them, I found that there are many types of chams that people call 'dwarf'.

I also read about one that had a very short lifespan... 3 years, about.

So does anyone have any online resources they could point me to so I can find out more info?

Thanks.

they have all types of names some call them, mossy leaf chameleons, dead leaf chameleon, leaf chameleons, dwarf chameleons, pygmy chameleons they got a whole bunch of names, there are different speices. There life is indeed very short and a lot shorter with an unexperieced owner. They need a lot of care, cause they eat lots of little bugs. But if you plan on getting one i would suggest you get something else. I my self do not keep them but i know some people here do, and probly tell you more about them and the "real name of these amazing critters"Some people ehre actually breed them

http://adcham.com/html/taxonomy/species-taxonomy.html#Bradypodion this is probably the best info source. It has a bunch on all kinds of dwarf chameleons and pics so you can compare.

Rhampholeon brevicaudatus is the most common and is likely what you saw. check out the rhampholeon and the brookesia genuses on americham's link to adcham.

Thanks for the replies.

I am definitely NOT planning on getting a dwarf cham, especially if their lifespans are so short. That doesn't interest me very much. I'd rather invest in a cham that's going to be with me for a lil bit. :)

Yeah most likely a Rhampholeon brevicaudatus.
