What is the reason for his skinnyness if hes eating daily or even every other day...

The most fattening meals are wax worms. If its big enough you can try pinks as well.

If its just suddenly lost a lot of weight it could have parresites. If its jsut layed eggs or something or new then try pinks and wax worms.

Better get him to a vet asap, because otherwise it doesn't look good. When animals eat regularily, but don't put on weight then there is something going on internally, like parasites or infections. Hope he gets better, but get to that vet.

Defanitly go to the vet ASAP. If I was to guess I would say that it was a tapeworm but I am not certain nor would I be without a vet telling lol. Anyways get an apointment and try to kepp him/her isolated(sp).

FYI if you have a stool sample or can get one before you goto VET take it with you cause they might ask for one (prolly will).

My male also had this problem. I took him to a vet and he was disagnosed with a pinworm infestation. Now he's on meds and doing better!

As everyone has said a vet visit is in order.

Also take in a fecal sample no older than 24 hours old to be tested for parasites. If it's older than 24 hours old then some of the ocdyisis dies off and they won't be able to tell what parasite if any.

the vets couldnt find nothing wrong he is still eatin a few crix every other day or so. can anone help me with other info besides the vet like food or anthing that will help him fatten up again. thanks

You could try electralights (sp) they hydrate and stimulate appetite that may be the answer.

Well wax worms are good for putting weight on geckos.

Also get Pedialite (sp) for babies as it will help hydrate your animal (poweraid works well to).

Glad the vet-check went ok. I've had good luck with some of the suggestions already mentioned: electrolyte mixtures (either specifically for reptiles or Pedialite for babies as mentioned), also one of the best suggestions I got on this forum was slurry, which I mixed up with electrolytes and vitamins, and dropper-fed a small amount 3-4 times a day for about 2-3 weeks. Seemed to pick the appetite up and put a bit of weight on, and my gecko started eating on her own then.

Couple of (maybe dumb) questions: is this a baby or an older gecko? Are the prey items too large/small for it to comfortably eat and pass thru the digestive system? Is your heat set up so it's got a warm spot (maybe belly-heat?) to help move the digestive system along more efficiently? Plenty of fresh water? Any changes to environment lately? Was he/she eating well beforehand, and is this a sudden change? Any chance of impaction? Any other geckos housed with this one that may be out-competing for food?

Sorry for all the questions, lots of them are to help me get more knowledge of the situation and possible solutions.....:)

it is about 2 or 3 years old. habitat has been the same for the last couple of years. it is by it self. food is good size and it snt impacted. i dtn no what to do
