I now use cricket food and cricket water I get from my supplier but when I first started and didn't need to order from a supplier, I just used ground up cat food and for moisture I used either a half of potato or a piece of carrot. This worked well for awhile for me. Just make sure to switch the vetables out before they rot or attrack fruit flies. Every other day if not daily.

Instead of cat food use high quality flake fish food, it's vitamin and mineral content is much more like commercial gut loads and contains the proper source of protiens (unlike cat/dog foods). Provide fresh water using a small dish and a piece of water soaked sponge or some sliced carrot or oranges. You can pretty well throw in any of your "left-over" greens and they will be readily eaten, providing your reptiles with balanced nutrition. I also dehydrate grape seeds, grind them up in a coffee grinder and add it to the fish food, good vitamins in there :D

I tend to use commercial cricket gutload, blendered cat food, fish flake food from tetra and stuff, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, unprocessed bran, oats.
