Looking for a cheap reptile inclosure for large boids and i think i might have found it. Didnt want a huge whole burnt in my pocket and have been searching for anything to be turned into a reptile inclosure. I recently went to the local feed store and saw a large metal bin used for feeding farm animals. Looks great all you have to do is build a top to fit. But since it is metal or aluminum not sure what type of materiel its made out of the side are always cold, and if it for a animal that needs humidity i think it gets allot of condensation on the sides. What do you guys think about this? Pass on it or try and make it work. take care JH

I don't like the galvanized steel ones, but I've used the Poly one with dwarf monitors and shallow ones for small tortoises and have no complaints at all.

I don't keep big snakes though, but I probably wouldn't want something top opening for anything large and/or agressive.

Best wishes,

My ideas on this metal enclosure bring to question heating; metal will hold/disperse heat differently than a traditional rubbermaid would, and therefore would be 'finicky' at best with regards to maintaining temperature/thermoregulation.
