Hello everyone. I was wondering if natuaral sunlight is absolutly crucial for my veiled. I have been taking him outside on this plant I bought but he escaped(I found him though). So now i am afraid that if I take him out on it that he will get away.

always have them in a cage when outside or in your complete site. Sun is really good for them can benifit them greatly but they can go without it if all the lights ect are provided. a cheap portible cage for outside is a peice of hardware cloth folded into a circle and caped nice tree inside and poof insta cheap cage

ya a enclosure out side should be a must, if your not around birds and rodents will try and get at it. It is good to take you cham out for a good basking

i think i read somewhere that the amount of beneficial light (UVa and UVb) that a cham gets from 8 hours under a fluorescent UVb bulb is equivlanet to what they can get from just 15 minutes of natural, unfiltered sunlight. just make sure you provide with a nice shady area to get out of the heat.

I was watching America's Funniest Home Videos on TV a while ago and saw this horrid video of this little boy with his pet mouse on top of his head. Then all of a sudden and out of nowhere this bird swoops down fromt he sky and grabs this poor little mouse off the kids head. They never found poor squeeqy. I felt so bad, and everytime I take my cham outside (I don't have an outside enclosure as of yet; I also never let him off my hand and always keep a close watch on him) I keep worrying the same thing will happen to my cham as the little mouse. You would think birds aren't bold enought to do something but they can be very bold at times.
