what other insects other than crickets are okay for a crestie? In particular I'm wondering about silkworms (and any other worms) and roaches.

Thanks.

Small silkworms will definetly be ok, butterworms will also be great(small, again), and small superworms work. I have not had any problems with superworms and cresties. I know they bite but just use a smaller superworms and if you can, use freshly molted ones. Waxworms are also acceptable as an occasional treat, and mealworms are ok too but I prefer to use same sized superworms as they are more nutritious and have a smaller exoskeleton. If you are worried about the supers biting the crestie, just crush the head before feeding. Hope this helps!

Silks and roaches are great for cresteds. Some cresteds might not show interest in something as slow-moving as a silkworm, but once they recognize them as a food source they love them.
I really hate roaches, but it seems like all rhacodactylus go crazy for them. (at least I don't have to eat them)

Opps - I forgot to specify what kind of roach I was thinking about (in case that makes a difference). I was thinking of hissing cockroaches (young ones since they're smaller).

I've heard lobster roaches (smaller than hissers) are great, so I'm going to give it a shot. I've got a group of them breeding now, but I've not yet fed any of them off to my Cresteds. I'm still waiting for them to multiply a little more before tapping into my "breeding stock."

Thanks everyone. One more question...how often should cresties be fed? I'll be buying a hatchling soon.

I fed my hatchlings everyday. 4 days crixs, 3 days baby food.

How many cix/hatchling CDN? I have 3 hatchlings coming this month and I have always fed more on the babyfood/CGD side of things, something like 4 days babyfood/CGD/GGD potion and 2 days of crix.

you seem to have a lot more experience than I do (I have been keeping rhacs only for about a year) so I thought i might go with more protein for the new young ones

I tossed in 3-5 crix per gecko which I housed seperately. I then removed any remaining crix the following morning. Its all up to you though, I have found the cresties grow faster with more crix in their diet but remember to gut load.
