Finally got some pics up from the 2004 American Tarantual Conference in Carlsbad, NM -- as well as the pre-conference and post-conference portions of the trip. They can be seen at:

Andrew,
Did you find any neat bugs in Europe? Whereabouts did you get to?

Well, I did see a couple beetles....one was crawling across the floor of my hostel in Munich!!! Other than that, not much. I wasnt really looking to be quite honest though. If they arent big hairy spiders I dont normally pay too much attention.
I went to Holland, Germany, Spain, and Czech republic. I just missed a big spider event in Germany :-(

Andrew,
Wasn't really looking? I don't actually really understand that concept. :)

Wow, what kind of camera are you using?
Is that a windscorpion in one of your pics?
The bucket full of scorpions is pretty crazy.
I have more questions and remarks but I'm too tired tonight, maybe tomorrow. Looks like it was fun.
In the one picture of the girl giving you the finger there is a guy standing with bare feet in a pile of spit(not sure why I'm pointing that out).

I use an Olympus C-4000 zoom, selected primarily on its 2cm minimum focal distance.
The solifugid picture was taken under our picnic bench at our campsite in Arizona. The male widow pic was taken on the edge of said table.
I have no idea at all what you're on about re: that picture with Tamara flipping me the bird. ;)
Cheers,
Dave

no he's right. in the picture in which a girl is flippin u off, while sitting in a door way (not the picture of a girl flipping u off while standing), there is a guy standing next to her in a puddle of spit.

Oh, I see. I assumed you meant the picture in the pre-conference page of Tamara flipping me off not the picture in the conference page of Kelly flipping me off. And no, those weren't the only two occasions that I got flipped off -- just the ones I caught on camera. :)
Cheers,
Dave
awesome pics Dave! the landscape photos are fabulous and so are the macros of the little aliens:)

Some really neat little critters, eh? I feel obliged to take some landscape shots, but it is the macros that really do it for me. Not that shooting the rattlers wasn't a thrilling experience, mind you ... :)
Cheers,
Dave
I noticed the rattlers, nice too, I find them easy to photograph..if approached slowly;)
The inverts are my fav. pics though, the detail is incredible.
Look like a lot of fun :D What is that super cool centipede at the bottom?

Linds,
Oh, it was a blast. The centipede is a freshly moulted S.polymorpha that was in the care of John (kugellager on Arachnopets.com).
Cheers,
Dave
