Gecko Characteristics

ok so i thought about this last night. is there other genetic characteristics on leos besides their colors/patterns? i mean can certain genes create a larger, smaller, different shaped head? or even grow to be bigger than others? can they have bigger/smaller feet etc.?

I have noticed over the years that some leos have more rounded heads (shorter noses) and bigger eyes and others are more slender with smaller eyes. Generally when I pick breeding stock I look for the ones with larger more round eyes and slightly rounder heads overall. They seem to be the ones that grow faster and bigger and always retain a very young looking face. Their "smiles" tend to look bigger and more exaggerated also. Another notable difference is tail length. I have seen breeders who's stock tends to end up with thicker slightly shorter tails and others seem to produce those with longer more slender tails. Just a few things:D

I agree with you, Julie! Sketchy4 there is a strain of (I believe Tremper ?) Giant leos that are approximately twice the size of 'normal' leos. Personally I'd love to have a giant in my collection! I too, prefer the 'younger' look with the large eyes, rounded 'face' and short nose. My baby Candy has these characteristics and is absolutely adorable!

i've seen a strain of leopard that have unusually large heads. it doesnt seem to hinder them in any way, and it makes for a very striking profile.

yes, i have been aware of the Tremper giants for a while now but i was just wondering if there are any specific characteristics in normal sized leos instead of the giants ;)

I was under the impression you were not familiar with Giants.
