Looking for adult Hogg Island pics...

I've been looking into this species and was wondering if anyone had a pic of an adult (preferably male) with something to reference their size? In particular, I'm trying to visualize how 'thick' an adult male gets. I've never seen one in person and have only seen pics - but the pics don't offer me an idea of how thick they are.

If noone has any pics, perhaps you can try to give me an idea by comparing it's size to a standard object (like: as thick as a waterhose, the large end of a baseball bat, a bowling ball, etc).

Hope this isn't asking too much - I'm just trying to visualize one. What few snakes I've seen in real life are often small young ones so I've not seen many adults of any species.

Here is my young adult male. He will be 2 years old in September. He eats 160g rats and as of this pic weighs 1.969Kg.

Thank you, that does help some. I realize that snakes grow their whole lives (just grow slower/less as they get older), but will he get much 'thicker' as he gets older?

I think he'll maybe put on another 1/3 of what he has now but that is just a guess. If you go to Chris Marshell's gallery he has a pic of him holding an adult Hog. Not sure of the sex though. Linds also has a pic of her holding Peanut too.

Thank you, I was able to find the pics you mentioned. Based on comments on Linds picture, it appears her Peanut is a female. Not sure about Chris' Hogg. They are both beautiful.

It has been my understanding that there is a substantial difference in size between the males and females - am I correct?

Also, I've found a few online Hogg breeders and one in particular sells Normal, Reduced Pattern and Hypo Hoggs. Are the later 2 types normal color variations that occur in the wild or were they created through captive breeding (and if so are these pure HOggs not crossed with any other species)?

reduced pattern is natural, brought on by selective breeding of pure hoggs, a hypo/hogg is a crossbreed.

A hypo Hog if it is cross bred is probably crossed with a Hypo Colombian. I am 100% against crossing Hogs with anything. They are nice enough in their natural state.

I am against crossing as well - just wanted to knwo what the cross was.

Someone on another forum said an adult male hog would be about as thick as a can of coke - does that sound accurate?

hehe Trevor I think I'm going to name my new Hog, Hogg. It doesnt bother me so much to see it spelt that way on this site but when I see it on a breeders that really gets me.
