Doing some research

Hey
I need some help. I am clueless about frogs, and know nothing about them. All i know is that they are tadpolls and then they turn into frogs.lol Now im really a chameleon guy, but i would like to learn more about these frogs. Ive heard of pac-man frogs but they dont intrest me that much. I want to make a vivarium that has a lot of foilage, so really for "show". I would like to have a couple of speices to together, but if that is hard to maintain then im just gonna stick with one. Now can anyone tell me what type of frogs i can get at the reptile show so i can read about them and then see where i go from there, also if you can put a price range if you can. If you need more information i wont mind answering

i would say dart frogs. they are very attractive, so they would go along well with a showy vivarium. you can also house many together(if you have a large tank)

yes yes i was checking out this fourm and i found some great ideas! Dart frogs are gonna work for me, to narrow it down i want 2-3 auratus, but there around $60.00CDN bucks each, or are they cheaper now?

hmm, i know in the states, the price range for dart frogs(i dont know exactly what kind) is from $40 - $1000+

haha, yes it would. but i doubt anyone would buy something that expensive unless you were very, very experienced, or just really rich

i would go with whites dumpy's, their beautiful, love lots of folliage, use the whole tank, are easily hand tamed, although you shouldnt handle frogs very often. They are also very easy to care for, dont require uvb. JMO

In my opinion, Bombina orientalis (fire belly toads) are the ideal starter amphibian. They thrive in anything from a beautiful naturalistic vivarium to a paper towel/water dish setup. They are far more active than any of the treefrogs, and are far more intersting to watch. Bombina require no heat, and you can comfortably house up to three frogs in a ten gallon tank. Plus, they are a great trainer frog if you are hoping to get into something more interesting like dart frogs.

Green and squirrel treefrogs are nice, one of my first amphibians, they are smaller than a white's so the won't disturb the plantings and are interesting to watch - although the males sound like a barking dog. They are relatively inexpensive $12.99 each here and common.
Other interesting frogs are African big eyed treefrogs(L.vermiculatus-always WC though), barking treefrogs, flying treefrogs (Polypedates sp.), clown treefrogs and various Reed frogs.
Phyllomedusa sp. are also an amazing display animal - they thrive in a naturalistic setting, are hardy, exotic looking and many are now CB. My new favourite a re Amazon milk frogs - WOW pictures don't do them justice.

I would say White’s tree frogs, They are amazing and active, brightly colored, and not as expensive as dart frogs. Dart frogs are very attractive but also very small and much more sensitive then whites tree frogs.
