I would just like to ask those with BPs to post whether they feed in the enclosure, or take the snake out to a separate location to feed. A simple in or out would work. Im just trying to get a gauge of what peoples thoughts on each method are.
Thanks

As for me my boas eat out of the cages but ball pythons at least mine so far being as shy and skittish I feed them in there cages.

I feed all of my snakes in their cages! less chances of disturbing them and less chances of getting bit, feeding response is already awaken after being fed. If you are in and out of your terrarium (sweater boxes) periodically to clean, change water at least twice weekly, only feeding once a week, why should your animals think every time you open their terrarium dinner is coming? I feed every snake i own in the cage now...
I have no trouble even putting my hand in my 7 foot boas enclosure anytime..
Exactly what Paul said as well.
Snakehooks are also a good investment IMO ;)
I also feed in their enclosure, and my hand has never been confused with food. 'Cause the hand bites back!
I feed in their enclosures as well; have yet to have a problem.

I feed in the enclosure.
The ONLY snake I don't feed in his enclosure is my w.hognose because he is on shredded aspen.

Wow- a lot of diversity in these answers. Ive been feeding in the enclosure, and so far no problems, but Ive read so many contradicting opinions on the matter, I thought Id see what all you guys did!
Thanks so much for answering!

i dont take them out to feed anymore. the snakes kept on paper or paper towel are fed in the cage and for the ones kept on substrate i simply take everything of the cage and put paper/newspaper over top of the substrate. you can weigh it down with something so the snakes dont try to go under it while eating but its never really been a problem.

I feed in the cage. Did with my snakes years ago as well. I used to keep two in the same enclosure. If you do, take one out of the cage and feed one then switch snakes.

Look at all the people who have Ball Pythons that have fasted or are fasting for long periods of time. Being the tricky eaters that they are, I'd just feed them in their enclosure. Its sooooo much easier.

I feed all but one of mine in their enclosures.
Taking them out I would assume would stress them, and the only reason to have a separate "feeding bin" would be if you are feeding live and need a controled area. Since most people agree you shouldn't feed live, except special cases, feeding bins are not necessary.
The one i feed in the "death bin", ha, is my girl who will only eat live mice, and won't do it in her enclosure. She's special though, and I would prefer not to, but at least she eats!

All of mine get fed in their habitats. Only one is snippy, and it's probably my fault ;)
