Heres my new cham tank - in the making

All i have left to do is line the bottom with a rubber sort of material so that when the water drips down it doesnt rot the wood. Im not to worried about the sides, since someone told me they havnt sealed their wood and have no probs. The bottem and top is sealed but the sides arnt. Im really liking the new tank and cant wait to get the cham in.

this is the bottom. The pieces that go up on the sides to hold the mesh will also be used to create the square bowl shape for the rubber lining. This will make it 100 percent water proof.

I dont need to use any substrate right? Can i just put the ficus in with the platic pot, he will never come down anyway right? Thats what all the caresheets have told me..what works best for you guys? and if i should, what substrate..just mulch?

You can always see if you can find a cat litter pan that will fit and just put some mulch in there. they way when teh water dips it will also help with humidity.

Are you going to use a deli cup for feeding? I find that works well just attach a fwe to the sides or branches and toss the food in there. This way you get a better idea of how much you cham is eating.

Yea thats what i have to do..the crix can get out to easily..im also not going to use crickets a lot...is it ok to just offer him all the types of worms..mealies, silks, butters, wax?

One more question..do they eat any vegetables? I read some eat either the live plants or actually collards..?

I dont feed mine any veggies at all with no ill effects. As for crickets, mine dont get crickets that often. I feed them Wax/butter/silk/king worms for the most part and crickets about once a week.

If anything your cham will benefit from a platter of different foods.

I don't know alot about chams, but I know they climb! lol
I noticed that the hardware cloth still has pointy edges. You might want to take a hot glue gun and cover that up so your cham doesnt get all cut up trying to climb.

Very nice though. Makes me want to go make one and get a cham. lol :)

in response to sapphire's recommendation, I woul dsuggest taking a wire cutter (or whatever you used to cut the mesh in the first place) and snap off all of those little end spikes

your lizard will most likely not get hurt, but YOU might, I got one of those things under my fingernail one time and it was the some of the worst pain imaginable

other than that, it looks great, just make sure you make a VERY secure top

I'd go with an easier route and put a 2x2 in each corner to cover the ends of the hardware cloth and also prevent it from pulling away to create an opening.

Plus, you DON'T want that sticking under your fingernail, Leighton was out of commission for quite a while (hated to see him cry like that, JK!)

Hey,
Looks good. You can feed the chameleon sweet fruits and vegetables. Word to the wise: Feed them crickets out of a deli dish, you would be surprised how many eggs they lay in a very short time. I guarantee they'll be going through those holes in the screen and you'll have a housefull of pinheads like me! Big crickets will probably get through too.
She'll go down in the bottom sometimes, mine LOVES to dig!
Some adults will eat the ficus leaves so be sure to clean any feces from leaves.

Yep I just noticed that he will eat the tree lol, but now that you said its normal I wont be worried. Ive been feeding him a lot so I didnt understand why he would do that.
