I just got a G. Pulchra sling yesterday (thanks so much again D.!!!) and he ate a 3/4 cricket! I had forgotten to bring home food for my new baby T, so I stole one from my frilled dragons. I did stun it before feeding it to Bitsy, but I'm still suprised he ate the whole thing in like 20 minutes. It was bigger than HIM!!! I guess I'm blessed with voracious eaters... My B.Smithi (Itsy) LOVES butterworms, but the problem is they're bigger than her. Doesn't seem to bother her though, she just carries them along with her until it's all gone, lol.
she's soooo cute...

Hmmm, I forgot to tell you...
Those butterworms are gross T food.
I fed sKelly (large A.seemanni) one of those and she was covered in 'grease' the next day. Her fangs and front legs were all oily-looking. It was alarming!
It took many days for her to get herself clean again, and I was worried that mold would start up on my spider. That would be very, very, bad.

Mealworms are fun to feed. When the spider is small, they tend to get dragged around by the thrashing worm. But the little slings grimly hang on...getting their little heads bonked here and there.
I like my B. jacksonni pling. One sting from it, and the prey ceases to move!
Cheers,
D.

have you read anything about if they're good for them or not. Itsy loves them as an occasional treat but if there's something harmful in it then i'll cut it out altogether. i just always have them in the fridge for the frilleds and gliders. btw i made the mash and freezed it like you had mentioned and they LOVE it... i mixed in everything but the kitchen sink...(i did mix it near the kitchen sink so maybe some particles got in, so i guess i can't rule it out altogether....)
n e way i'm ranting now, a clear sign that i must sleep.

That's really interesting about the butterworms.

I have given my two tarantulas butterworms twice as a treat. They both relished them and the second time I fed them, snatched them up like there were a delicacy! :P

I did not notice a greasy apperance, but maybe I will try again and look for it specifically.

yeah, neither did i, no grease whatsoever. maybe d. is crazy and putting vasoline all over her t's, lmao.

sorry d., i couldn't resist.*grin*

but yeah mine LOVE them, and the worms size doesn't seem to bother the slings at all...
