Heres my new, and very first, veiled chameleon. I have a tank set up, but im not really happy with it, so i started building one today...id say in 2 or 3 days it will be fully complete.

One more question...i am building a wood enclosure. I have a base board, with four poles in the corners and a square on the top...so tomrrow i have to buy screen and fill 3 sides and the top...then im going to build a frame for a door, get hinges and screen that as well. My question is, how do i seal the wood from becoming rot or is it to late now? Also if its to late, can i just put some sort of plastic at the bottom..like a thin piece of plastic melted into the exact square i need or something?

You could use some kind of wood sealer, like a paint. Or also I think there are diff types of wood that are resistant. Im not a building expert though, ive only made a cage or two ym self.

I beleive if you use water-base varethane it is non-toxic to the touch and is a good sealant, just make sure to let it sit for a good 4+ days before putting your cham in the cage. But don't go strictly by my words. Please ask around just in case.

we dont' seal and there's no problems, unless water is constantly sitting on and soaking the wood, you don't need to worry about rotting wood

With screen cages they seem to dry out fast so you shouldnt have a problem. But if you are worried just get a nice non toxic bathroom paint. This way its water proof and look nice aswell.

Alright, so im not even going to bother sealing..what im doing is putting this sort of rubber material into a square bowl shape to line the bottom of the tank and a bit of the sides. Ill have pics very soon, the new tank is complete, all that is needed is the rubber lining. So it will be in use for tomorrow hopefully :)

You also want to watch out for warping. Wood can go very curvey in contact with water.
