In the meen time try and keep him well hydrated and mist him alot to allow him to clean it out.

Is he rubbing it?
is there mucas?
How does the eyeball itsself look?

oh and your probably looking for around 60 for the first vistit plus the cost of meds or special tests.

What do you mean? You find the light is too bright for his eyes? I have never heard of that but then again, anything can happen. There are these ceramic heat emmitters I have seen in various pet shops. I haven't heard any comments on them so I couldn't really tell you against or to get one. There are various sizes I beleive and you can find the aproppriate size.

I would still sudgest a visit to the vet. Nothing helps more then talking to an experienced proffessional
