I am having trouble getting my new crestie to eat

I read care sheets recommending 75% fruit diet and 25% insect diet

so far I have a small dish with peaches baby food in there and he hasn't touched it in 1 day

I even have the food dish inside the plant that he's in 24-7

any suggestions?

How long have you had him for? If its not long, he may need time to adjust. Don't stress out too much if you just got him and he won't eat. If someone else had him before you, they might not have fed it babyfood. Be careful leaving babyfood in there too long as it goes bad quickly.

Cresties can be different, some of mine refuse food from a dish or won't even eat any babyfood at all. Some get spoonfed (hatchlings), some scarf down food from a dish like a dog, and some just won't touch it period.
Try adding insects (crickets) to the cage at night just before the lights go out if he won't go for the babyfood.

Good luck :)

When I first got my cresties, it took a couple of days for them to settle down and eat. Try some crix to situmulate a feeding response. Good luck!

I have been placing crickets in the cage, and I don't see them afterwards, it's just hard to tell if they're eaten or hiding

I have had him for 1 week exactly

They're most likely eaten :) Just give him some time to adjust and he'll come around.
