Thanks everyone!
Simon, we plan on writing up a comprehensive paper on the keeping and reeding of spilotes. I'll get it to you as soon as it is completed if you'd like it.
Thank you, Mary. Have been a bit busy ;)

She is probably 7-7.5 feet. We haven't measured her since January and she was near 7 feet then.

Thanks again!
Once the babies hatch out the paper will be published. I want to see this project through the end first to make sure ALL data is correct. Incubation temps, timing, etc... I've gotten two different suggestions on this, so we are going to go with the one that hatched the most eggs ;)
Spilotes will lay anywhere from 5-14 eggs. **** Bartlett had a pair he collected in Mexico that he bred for about 10 years straight. He said he got about 5 or 6 eggs a year. He gave us the basics of what to do (and we were already doing it right all on instinct). Another person that bred them said he averaged 10 eggs per clutch, the smallest was 8 and the most was 14. They will supposedly double clutch quite often as well. He gave us a few more specifics. We picked the brains of those that were successful.
I think so many have failed with them because of a couple of rather minor mistakes. I say minor because they seem simple to me, I guess. *shrug* If these eggs hatch out well, I can safely say it was a lot easier than I had expected.
Anyway, when it is published on our site, I will post the link for all interested. There is so very little information about them out there that I think getting this info out is vital. We aren't out to keep secrets, LOL
If anyone would like to e-mail me about this I can be reached at ldydrgn@primareptilia.com
@LdyDrgn:
Very nice. I'm looking forward to the article.
You mentioned **** Bartlett, so here's my question: He wrote an article on Tiger rats in Reptiles Magazine in August 2000; have you got that article? I'm trying for a long time to get it, but it's rather hard over here in Europe.
I wish you much luck for the clutch. Hopefully you're mother of 12 tiny little Spilotes in 2 months :-)

No, I do not have that article and in fact didn't know there was one, LOL. It's rare that we actually pick up any of the mags these days. My husband (most of y'all know him as Sick Uncle Morti) had a chat with him a few months back for the info.
Viele danke, gurkee!
Ich danke vielmals!
Thanks for your answer. Keep us informed 'bout the eggs.

Update on the eggs:
I candled a few of the eggs and they are devoloping nicely.
The pair mated again and she is in blue now, so she may double clutch.
