Begginer T's...

What are some nice begginer tarantulas I should look at for my first one? If you have any easy species for sale...

the cobalt blue's?! I don't even have a tarantula but I know that cobalt blues are crazed psychopath Ts and aren't good for beginners at all.

No? The one's I've seen have all been fine - I based my response on personal experience so I could be wrong!

really? I'm surprised, all I've ever heard about cobalt blues is that they're not handle-able at all and are consistently ill-tempered...I suppose there's always the exceptions to the rule...

Cobalt Blues are pretty nasty as most Haplopelma. You may be referring to the Green Bottle Blue, Chromatopelma cyanopubescens (sp?). They can be handled and are good beginners.

Does nobody think the Chilean Rosehair is a good beginner? It's my first and I've had no problems. Had to put up with a long fast, but it's kinda like having a ball python! Otherwise, he's been great.

I agree with Kellie, Chilean Rose Haris make good beginner spidies. I *almost* got one twice.....weeeeeeeeeeeee! I need to really kick this phobia...I wanna get one sooooooo bad! :o

Chileans are pretty good, the only problem being that most of them out there in pet stores are wild caught individuals (most sp are). Which is why you have the fasting, the T trying to do what it would do in the wild. The other problem would be parasites. All that said and done, Rose hairs are one of the prettiest NA species with a decent temper. Some individuals are known to be nasty though, but it's a very small minority.
Question for Phillip. Is the Cyclosternum sp. you're talking about C. gaujoni?
