View Full Version : It has Started, 51 +2 slugs no still born two twin pairs...
51 how bout not bad for a female about 6-7 feet;) A bunch more females to go .....soon.
I bred her with a pastel of my lines. I threw a male salmon hypo owned by a friend for a bit to please him. I didint check for any hypos yet...If there is no hypos it will mean that they will be some ultra clean pastels in the batch and that the hypo male didint pin her.
She gave two set of twins this time unfortunatly I broke the ombelical cords of both sets as I was stressed. She is always at her maximum of nastyness after giving birth and she strikes at everything that vibrates or moves in the cage...I was wondering if some of you ( by chance ) have the pics of the first twins that show their ombelical cords joined together by the yolk ?I lost them when computer crashed some time ago. Marc .B, I remember you buying one of the two twins do you still have the pics? I think i remember them posted on the barker's site.... ? It will be really great to see them again its really something unusual.
Now a pic in the cage for an idea of how a huge litter like that looked like...I took the pic from one side of the sliding doors. The door you see is two feet wide....

Now a pic of what it looks like in a standard 22X16 inch rubbermaid , the deep ones... It covers all the bottom.

WOW, my 7 foot boas used to put out about 25 and I thought that was good! 51+ is insane! she must of just been Xtra huge.
Great job!

Well Thanks to all for your kind words;) I think I'm gonna breed her with an albino next time and make some hets. Her last litter was one set of twins, 37 babies no slugs if i remember well. I hope she hits the 60's next year.

Thanks for your kind words dave;) Without starting an other controversed discussion on how many babies boas get, their size and everything ( I'm a bit lazy this topic was discussed many times and my english is not good enough for me to say everything i want to say on that topic )...I can say that keeping them right is the first step. The second is being able to see when the female's folicules are at the good size and ready, proper temps and offcourse genetics. I 've seen many litters of 35 to 40 babies comming out of between 4 1/2 & 6 1/2 feet central ams which are usually smaller than colombians... biggest was a litter of 42 if I remember well.

That's just amazing! Congrats Stav on this incredible litter.
Can this actually be a record? I'm just curious :) I've never heard of a clutch this large and especially so many healthy survivors! Any one know what the records are?
I'm looking forward to seeing the results of your upcoming litters!
