View Full Version : When to start feeding baby corns ?
Got some babies coming out as we speak :)
How many days do I need to wait before feeding them.
Right after the 1st shed ?
thanks

Yep, right after the first shed is usually the standard practice. Mark
Yup usually after first shed.
But if you have some extra thawed out pinkies already, you can always try. It doesn't hur to try. If they eat it, yeah! If not its normal.
I tried to feed my hypo motley on the 2nd day after it hatched...and all of them ate...LOL....but that was because I had pinkies laying around without anyone eating (don't want the adults to eat them..waste my money...they'll want more than that...LOL)
Last year when my 19 snow babies hatched I waited to see some first sheds before feeding....as I was feeding along only the first ten had a shed, the rest had not yet. Even still, all but one took FT first time.

I put pinkies in with the hatching babies AS they hatch. More than you might expect will crawl from the egg and eat within a few minutes. (That way, I know immediately which ones I may want for myself!)
After the first day or so, they will begin a shed cycle and it's usually not productive to try feeding until they have shed in a week.
