Veggies should be available at all times. Just leave a dish with the "salad" in the enclosure. You should take out the old and put in fresh every day.

It usually takes a while before they will eat much veggies (a few months) but it's good to have it in there for them anyway.

Crickets should be fed 2-3 times a day for hatchlings and less often as they get older. You will need to get small crickets. Possibly even pin-head crickets, which are very small. If your pet store does not have different sizes of crickets...go somewhere else. They probably don't know very much about reptiles anyway.

They will eat mainly crickets when they are young, then they will eat more veggies.
it sounds like us : we hate vegetables when we are kids then we start to eat some...

Like Mike said if you cannot have very small crickets for your babies go somewhere else. You can also try online... Ask if you want some websites.

You could also feed other insects. Silk worms are very nutritious. Butter worms are supposed to be pretty good as well. I have heard that meal worms are not very easy to digest, especially for young dragons.

Variety is the key...with both veggies and insects.

I don't know why the majority has this opinion, but any dragon I have owned has eaten vegetables virtually right out of the egg. For best results, feed vegetables first thing, preceeding any insectivorious diet. As they are hungry, and there is no supply of insects, this will increase the chances of your dragon getting his veggies :D.

As to a varied diet, depending on the size of your dragon, acceptable insects for the time being may be limited. First off, avoid any worm with an exoskeleton. If you can find silkworms, butterworms or waxworms small enough for your dragon, by all means include it into the diet. Prey items should be no bigger then the width between each eyeball - therefore, if your dragon is still really young, it may be a good idea to wait a month or so before including worms into the diet.
